Dugout Inter Regional Cup - First Round
Culter 3 Maud 1 H-T 3-1
Scorers:- Culter, McRitchie 9, 14, Cameron 35. Maud, Martin 37 (penalty)

Culter moved safely through to the next round of the Inter Regional Cup with a fairly easy victory against a
fighting Maud side. The Early play by the home side was clinical but they lost their way a little in the second half. For the second match in a row Culter were reduced to ten men in the second half when Chris Collie was sent packing for a second bookable offence.

In the opening minutes Willox of Maud was denied an opportunity when he rattled the post but the whistle had already gone. A few moments later Cowell sent Stewart.scurrying away but his cross was blocked at the expense of a corner. The Deeciders went a goal up in the ninth minute when Cowell sent Cameron free and he provided the perfect square ball for MCRITCHIE who rifled the ball home from close range. Maud had a good chance a little later when Summer crossed for Robertson but his glancing header went barely wide. Culter looked to be in cruise control with 14 minutes gone, when Calder went on a terrific run before crossing to MCRITCHIE who again netted from close range. With twenty minutes gone McRitchie was through with only the keeper to beat but this time his delicate lob did not have enough elevation and Stephen saved easily. Seconds later Cameron sent in a swinging cross and although McRitchie got on the end of it he could only steer the ball out for a goal kick. Smith then set up Stewart as Culter threatened to run riot and his inspired chip met the comer of post and bar before rebounding to safety. Maud were struggling at this juncture but they did have a chance hen Martin hit the post but once again he was pulled back for offside. The home side went three up in the 35th minute when top scorer CAMERON chased down a long pass and he beat Robertson to the ball before poking the ball home. Maud were thrown a dubious lifeline two minutes later when Collie was deemed to have made contact with Usher in the box and the referee pointed to the spot. MARTIN stepped up and sent Pirie the wrong way to peg back Culter's lead.

Culter almost added a fourth in the dying minutes of the half when McRitchie setup Stewart who twisted in the box before bringing out a good save from Stephen.

At the start of the second period Culter had strong claims for a penalty turned down when McRitchie went
down in the box but the referee waved play on. Incredibly a few minutes later Martin hit the post again with Pirie beaten and this time the strike was considered legal. McRitchie did have a chance at-the other end from a Davidson cross but his header did not trouble Stephen too much: Stewart then went on a typical surging run before finding McRitchie but the normally clinical striker could only shoot into the side netting. The match then degenerated into a dour midfield battle with neither side creating much but the tackles were beginning to bite and Collie was booked for what appeared to be a fairly innocuous challenge on Usher. A few minutes later Collie was in trouble again when he downed Will just over the half way line and the referee had no alternative than to produce a second yellow. Culter attempted to change the pattern of the game with Greig and Christie coming on for Stewart and Davidson and a few minutes later Fraser replaced McRitchie. Despite the ten men Culter had further chances to increase the margin of victory but Stephen was the hero for Maud as he saved three times from Cameron in the dying minutes.
