CULTER V HERMES — 16TH AUGUST 2008 A great afternoon for a game of
football at Crombie Park, Culter, and it didn’t let us down from the start.
It was exciting stuff within 2 mins. Sim crossed the ball to McKimmie who
slipped it past the post. In 3 mins, Hermes was given a free kick which was
wasted, and then Culter had the same with Adam Wilson crossing the ball into
the box, but while looking for Shand the ‘keeper Barry Park plucked it out
of the air first. In 7 minutes Murray Rattray had a good chance, but put it
over the bar. In the 8th mm, Sim put in a great cross, but the ball hit off
Tommy Willox of Hermes to make Culter’s score 1 up. From kick-off, Culter
had Hermes defending again when Adam Wilson crossed a ball from the right
wing for Shand to put it past the post. On 12 mins, Lewis McKimmie scored
after Barry Park saved an attempt by Martin Shand. Hermes had a great chance
when Gary Robertson skinned Shand & ‘keeper John Farquhar but Murray Rattray
cleared the goalbound ball. In 14 mins David Christie had a strike from
outside Culter’s box but went over the bar. 15 mins — Shand had the ball
taken off his boot with a brave save by Park of Hermes. 18 mins — Sim makes
way for George McBain, due to injury. In the 20th mm, Hermes was awarded a
corner, taken by Craig MackIln, but cleared by Rattray for Culter, just to
watch a strike from Tommy Willox go over the bar. Tommy Willox was booked
for a rash tackle on McBain in the 30th mm. 32nd min — a corner from McBain
came over for the ‘keeper to punch over the bar. Stott took the corner for
‘keeper Park to catch and drop, but there was nobody there for Culter. 37th
min — Murray Rattray got another chance, but put it past the post from
outside the box. David Christie played a great ball through to Macklin to be
cleared by Murray Rattray. Craig Macklin got himself booked for back
chatting the referee in the 40th mm, and then Neil Dawson scored for Hermes
after slack defending from Culter defence. Shand had a great chance for
Culter, but tripped himself up to miss a sitter. Neil Dawson was booked also
for verbal remarks to the Referee. Half Time: 2-1
Second half started with Rattray crossing the ball in to Shand, to see the
Hermes ‘keeper take it off his head. 4 mins into second half and Adam Wilson
and ‘keeper Farquhar got it all wrong by gifting Macklin the equaliser. 50th
min — Bruce Smith substituted by Donny Adam. Chris Strachan booked for a
wild tackle on Rattray. In the 54” min of second half, Martin Shand scored
after taking the ball for a run in the box. In the 59” mm, Lewis Mckimmie

another cross and Shand wasted no time in sending the ball, like a bullet,
into Hermes net to make it 5-2. 67th min — Mckay crossed a great ball for
Macklin to shoot just past the post and Hermes kept up the pressure to be
given a free kick 25 yards out. Mckay fired it straight into the arms of
John Farquhar. 82nd min — Hermes won a penalty which Scott Mckay took and
scored to now make the score 5-3. In the 86th mm, Matthew Robertson got a
booking for a bad tackle on Craig Macklin who ran into a safety bar and was
