Culter had no game yesterday because the planned Superleague fixture against
Dyce was delayed due to their postponed Scottish Junior Cup 3d Round Tie
being rescheduled for then. Bobby Gray’s plans to play a friendly match
against Broughty Athletic yesterday also came unstuck. There are no North
Region Junior fixtures next week therefore Culter have a free date on
Saturday 27 December 2008.
First Foot Fixture. Culter’s first fixture of the New Year is a Superleague
match on Saturday 3 January 2009. The game is Lewis United v Culter and as
our opponents are playing all their matches away from home it goes ahead at
Crombie Park, Culter, Kick Off 1.45 p.m.
Seasonal Stoppage. There are no Junior Fixtures on Saturday 27
December 2008. We have also decided that we will not have Lottery tickets
dated Saturday 27 December 2008. The Lottery stoppage will be for this one
week only.
Bulletin Break. Since we have neither a game nor our lottery on
Saturday 27 December 2008 there will not be a Weekly Bulletin on Sunday 28
December 2008. The Bulletin break will also be for this one week only.
Committee Convenes. A Committee Meeting of Culter Football Club will be held
in Crombie Park Pavilion, Culter, on Tuesday 6 January 2009 commencing at
7.00 p.m.
Birthday Boy. Advance congratulations are extended to our Groundsman
Gordon Laing who celebrates his 70th Birthday on Tuesday 23 December 2008.
Gordon joins the other Boys of 1938 who reached the “three score years and
ten” milestone recently — fellow Groundsman George J Aitken (6 October) and
myself (4 December).
Parade Picture. Gordon and I are featured in the photograph below of
the 47th (Culter) Company of the Boys’ Brigade marching to Church for the
dedication of their colours on Sunday 1st June 1952. The parade is passing
Church Terrace, now North Deeside Road, opposite the Police Station. Can you
recognise us and others? We are in the middle of the picture next to each
other with Gordon in short trousers.

Merry Christmas
and a
Happy New Year
