Banks o’ Dee v Culter: Culter suffered their second defeat in the space of four days to Banks o’ Dee on a terrible Spain Park pitch that looked as if it was covered with speed bumps. The away team had the best of the opening 35 minutes but as soon as they conceded a goal there looked to be only one winner.
McBain made a terrific run in only the 3rd minute that took him from inside his own half into the Dee box but his shot come cross flashed across the face of goal. Shand and then Craigie both had decent efforts from outside the box that drifted inches wide. Youngson sent in a delightful free kick that found the inrushing Shand but he couldn’t direct his shot towards goal. Craigie had the ball in the net but was adjudged to have wandered offside. In the 36’’ minute the Dee finally put together a good passing move and it lead to the opening goal, Ally REID picked up the ball 25 yards out and hammered an unstoppable shot past Farquhar against the run of play. The title chasers were now up for it and Farquhar had to look smart to turn another Reid piledriver onto the post and Robertson cleared the danger. Half Time I — 0. The Dee went further ahead in 58 minutes when Sim caught the heels of Brownhill in the box and Richard SCAIFE stepped up to make no mistake from the penalty spot. As a contest the game was over in the 64 minute when Ross McWiLLIAM had the luck of the bounce in the box when the ball hit his knee and somehow ended up in the net despite the efforts of the away ‘keeper. Minutes later Farquhar made the best save of the game to deny Foy and again in the dying minutes turned away a powerful Scaife shot to keep the score down. Shand had Culter’s best chance of the second half when left in space in the box but the ‘keeper was well off his line to smother the ball.

Ellon United v Cuiter: Culter at last got back to winning ways with a well deserved three points over a young Ellon side. Only poor finishing in front of goal prevented the away team winning by a larger margin.
McKimmie did well to charge down an attempted clearance in the minute, the ball landed perfectly for him to clip the ball past Bowman only for Henry to race back and boot the ball off the line. Half way though the half Hugh Robertson outstripped the home defence and was unlucky to see his crisp shot rebound off the post but the bail was only cleared as far as Allan YOUNGSON. The ‘keeper could only stand and watch as the midfielder’s 20 yarder flashed into the corner of the net for a great goal. Stott blasted high and over and Cooper headed just wide off a McBain corner as the one way traffic continued till halftime. Half Time: 0 — 1.
Farquhar in tne away goal was at last called into action in the 58th minute but easily saved Reid’s 18 yard drive. Culter went straight up the park and Rattray headed over from 8 yards off another McBain corner. Culter doubled their advantage in the 67th minute when a long Farquhar free kick was flicked on by the head of Hugh Robertson, both Alisop and Bowman misjudged the bounce of the ball and left Lewis McKIMMIE the simple task of heading the ball into the empty net. Ten minutes later and the points were in the bag, Hugh ROBERTSON latched onto a perfect Youngson pass before calmly slotting the ball past Bowman. In a rare effort for the home team Barclay volleyed over MacNamara’s cross. In injury time Shand was left with a great chance to score after great play by Hugh Robertson but scooped his shot wide.
