Weather Washout

Our 3 Round Emirates Scottish Junior Cup Tie due to be played against Bathgate Thistle on Saturday 28 November 2009 was unfortunately postponed due to their waterlogged pitch. The game now goes on next Saturday, see overleaf for details.

40 Years Ago. Our Amateur League Division 11 match due to be played on Saturday 29
November 1969, Culter v College of Education at Crombie Park, was postponed. At our Committee
Meeting on Tuesday 25th November 1969 in The Gordon Arms Hotel, Culter, Derek H Forbes was
presented with an engraved tankard in recognition of his services as President from 1960 — 1969.
30 Years Ago. Culter beat Cove Rangers 4 -1 at Cove in the 3 Round of the North of Scotland Cup on Saturday 24 November 1979. The Referee was Ron Farquhar, Dyce, and our scorers were D Falconer, K Garden, A Mutch (own goal) and S Munson. Our team was:-
K Davidson; F Gauld, G Scott; R Westiand (Captain), G Thomson, P Longmoor; M Kennedy, S Munson, R Smith, D Falconer, K Garden; Substitutes: C Lawrence and G Stuart.
A sub committee was appointed to deal with the construction of our new pavilion:- Planning and
Building Committee — E J Duncan (Chairman), R Petrie, A J Irvine and A Stuart; Finance Committee
— E J Duncan (Chairman) and D A Jamieson.

20 Years Ago In the 2nd Round of the Scottish Junior Cup Culter drew 2 —2 with Buchanhaven Hearts at Raemoss Park, Peterhead, on Saturday 25 November 1989. Our line up was:R Seivwnight; M Craigmile, C Ferries; S Rose, E Shearer, C Marnoch; M Kennedy, L Mason, B Burnett, K Kennedy, A Johnstone; Substitutes: W Cuthill and P Thomson.
Our scorers were Les Mason and Bryan Burnett. “Shiner”s remarkable 85th minute goal seemed to have won the tie — Bryan fell and whilst lying on the ground he hit the ball into the net off the post. Next minute he went down injured after being kicked on the ear and was taken to Hospital after the match to have stitches inserted in his ear wound. The game ran 3 minutes into resultant injury time and Culter were shocked when Buchanhaven equalised in the dying seconds. Culter won the replay the following week at Crombie Park 2 — 0 through Bryan Burnett and Miilar Kennedy goals. Our 4 Celebrity Dinner was held on Monday 13th November 1989 with the excellent turnout of 350 gentlemen. Mr Abie was a capable Compere, Craigie Veitch was a brilliant after dinner Speaker whilst Guest Speaker Lawrie McMenemy gave a long informative talk on football.
10 Years Ago. Culter lost a Premier Division game 2—0 to FC Stoneywood at Crombie Park on Saturday 27 November 1999 through goals from M Low and former Culter player Cameron “Soapy” McKay. The Referee was Willie Young and our team was:Troup; Fraser, Reid, B Low, Cha!rners, Gibb, Milne, Marr, Cameron, Galbraith, Tulloch; Substitutes: Smith, Rain, Campbell, Anderson, Home.

Earlier Encounter. A couple of weeks ago I told of our 4th Round OVD Scottish Junior Cup Tie against Bathgate Thistle at Creamery Park on 12 January 2002. We went down 2 — 1 in a closely contested match. Neil McRitchie had opened the scoring in the 2 minute but his vital 2’ half penalty was saved by the Bathgate ‘keeper. The half time score was 1 — 1 and the Bathgate winner came with 5 minutes left on the clock. The Referee was W Gilfillan and our team that afternoon was:-
Buckley; Robertson, O’Brien, Morris, Small, Brown, Smith, Sutherland, McRitchie, Hendry, Rattray; Substitutes Girvan, Davidson. Gibb, Clinton. Stewart.

Committee Convenes. A Committee Meeting of Cutter Football Club will be held on Tuesday 1 December 2009 in Crombie Park Pavilion, Culter, commencing at 7.00 p.m.
