2010. Culter finally got a game played and won on penalties in a sudden
death finish. The Deesiders came from behind twice and did go into the lead late
on but the Spiders equalised in the last minute.
On a very heavy surface Downfield stuttered to find any rhythm and Culter
dominated the early exchanges with both Ryan Stott and Chris Ogboke both going
close. Then out of the blue the home side took the lead when a speculative shot
from Stuart Farquarson left Andy McIntosh rooted. At the other end Chris Ogboke
had a couple of chances but Chris Fordyce pulled off a two good stops. With 35
minutes on the clock Culter looked out of it when Stuart Farquarson turned in
the area and put the Dundee outfit two ahead. Just before the interval Culter
were thrown a lifeline when Chris Ogboke scored from the spot after being hauled
down by Mark Ferry. Culter could have equalised a moment or two later but once
again they were denied by a fantastic save from Chris Fordyce
At the start of the second half a super Ryan Stott cross picked out Chris Ogboke
but his powerful strike was again saved wonderfully. However the visitors were
not to be denied when Ryan Stott combined with Allan Youngson who set up Dod
McBain who thrashed the ball home. This saw the tackling by the Dundonians get a
little agricultural but referee Mike Mcllvenny took little action. The Deesiders
then went close on a couple of occasions with Ryan Stott hitting the post and
Chris Ogboke smashing one over the bar. The Deesiders eventually went in front
when Ryan Stott set up Chris Ogboke who drilled home a beauty. With an away win
looking on the cards the Spiders put on the pressure and they equalised when a
punch from Andy Mcintosh fell kindly for Ronnie Lauder who thumped the ball past
the stranded Culter keeper in the 90th minute.
Culter won the match when they scored all of their penalties.
