This year the Culter Gala will be held on Saturday 28th May.
This marks 150 years since the villagers of Culter got together to celebrate this annual event. Back in 1866, the Peterculter Farm Servants' Society organised the first Culter Higland Games and Ploughman's Picnic. Since then many organisations in the area have had a hand in keeping this event going.
At its height, the Culter Games drew crowds of visitors and competitors from all over the country. In 1891, there were a reported 5000 people down at Pitengullies field due to the weather being "beautifuly fine".
